Why did 20 zombies spawn in the same spot

Was just playing when a bunch of zombies spawned in the same spot near my house, why did that happen? I heard of the “zombie siege” thing that happens in villages, but I am not in a village, or close to one I killed all of them, but there was more in the morning for some reason?
