Quickest way to access template variables via JS?

Hey there,

I was wondering: after a template has loaded with a set of variables/viewparams, what would be the fastest way to access those values via JS? Is it possible to access them directly or do I have to load them into the template first (like for example, load them into an hidden input etc)?
