My understanding of how map art works just changed quite a bit

I've been thinking of a more creative way to mark points of interest on my map in survival since using banners to do so is out of the question on bedrock. I never was willing to use the amount of materials it would theoretically take to fill out a design on a level 3/4 map. But after playing around with it in creative, I found that as long as you place the blocks correctly, it is no more costly than it would be on a small, level 0/4 map. Each pixel on a 3/4 map represents an 8x8 section on the ground, and by placing carpet on every 8th block, I only use one block per pixel and it works just the same. I imagine this rule holds true for any size map as long as you adjust for it. Hope this helps somebody
