So my son took a huge interest in Minecraft last year only the switch. He’s 6 and he absolutely loves playing the game.
I am also a gamer but never played Minecraft. I started playing split screen co-op with him about 6 months ago and we started a survival world that we’ve been playing ever since. We’ve been learning the ropes and made fantastic progress. Cave explorations. Diamond equipment. Nether battles. We found a village and started upgrading the villagers and built a settlement near them. Have a huge treehouse we built meticulously that we would play hide and seek in when we got bored battling or farming.
This morning he was playing by himself and I walked in and asked if he wanted to go adventuring with me. He said no I deleted our world. It didn’t even really register at first. I grabbed the switch and went and looked… he deleted all the worlds. He said there were too many and I guess he just deleted them all so he could create 1 new one when it wasn’t letting him. I tried to backup the latest cloud save, but unfortunately the latest cloud save was after he deleted everything.
He doesn’t even seem to care. We had 100 hours in that world and it was great quality time with him as we learned and grew together.
Now I have absolutely no desire to start over and I’m weirdly upset at him that he’s eliminated not only the father son activity, but also all the work we put in. I think I’m really in mourning for the loss of a shared activity we both enjoyed immensely.
Anyone else go through something similar?
