I know it's probably quite petty. However, it makes sense, especially since you can already make wool with string. Hence, they're made from the same material. For it to make sense, the wool MUST be white, because the string is white. It wouldn't make sense for blue wool to give you white string. This is the idea: 1 White Wool 4 String.
