As far as I understand, it's trying to push towards exploration right? But why does it force it down people's throats rather than just make exploration more appealing? It doesn't really add anything that makes those who like to explore enjoy it more, it just makes those who like to stay in one location forced to do stuff. Isn't Minecraft about creativity just as it is about exploration?
