Got a gag gift in my minecraft server and im trying to take advantage of it

We recently got gag gifts for christmas on my minecraft server and this lump of coal stood out to me. It has fortune 5 but can only mine coal ore. I know theres a weird glitchish thing where you can use the attributes of a sword when using a bow with it in your offhand.
