What is Crafted Kingdoms?
Crafted Kingdoms is a Minecraft Server fully custom coded to be a next-generation spiritual successor to CivCraft, with new features like custom material tiers and recipes. It incorporates the same group reinforcement mechanics but with more streamlined command usage to provide a social experiment for players to build nations, explore political philosophy, and leave their mark on the world. What is tech progression like?
Upon joining, players will be randomly teleported to a spot within the 10,000 x 10,000 world border. Because blocks like the furnace now have much more expensive recipes using custom materials, players will be in the stone age for a while. You'll have to hunt for food, use a campfire to cook, and live out of cave dwellings to survive the harsh nighttime conditions. It's a hardcore survival experience. Your first furnace will take 400+ cobblestone, 81 wood, and 27 coal to complete.
Once you have your first furnace, you will be thrust into the iron age, allowing you to finally make the tools and weapons you need to leave your cave dwellings. Once you have established a comfortable base, you will start crafting steel ingots. Steel will allow you to make all of the late-game interactable blocks, like blast furnaces, smokers, smithing tables, enchanting tables, brewing stands, etc.
Once you have these late-game blocks, you can begin right clicking them with a stick to activate their factory block. At this point, you can begin mass producing goods and experience to grow your empire even quicker!
What are the changes to farming and breeding?
Crops now takes several real world hours for growth, and have biome-specific modifiers. Many also now require sunlight. You won't be able to grow all crops in your biome, so you'll have to either expand your empire or trade with others to get a diverse set of crops & food. Luckily, you can place up to 4 clay blocks beneath crops to speed up their growth in the form of fertilizer.
Breeding also works differently! Similar to farming, some animals will be easier to breed in different biomes (see chart linked above). Each biome gives each animal a percentage success rate for breeding. Once again, you'll have to trade with other nations or expand your territory to breed multiple animal types.
What are soul shards?
Soul shards are our version of PrisonPearl or ExilePearl from the original CivCraft. If you kill another player with a enderpearl in your hotbar, that player will be trapped in the nether untill someone frees them from the enderpearl! This acts as a way for players to deal justice on their own terms. You can summon your captive at will, allowing you to put them on trial, use them for labor, etc. It's your choice if you want to use soul shards to lock away evil players or to establish a tyrannical rule over players.
How does enchanting work?
Vanilla experience is disabled in Crafted Kingdoms. Instead, you'll need to craft a cauldron and brew your own experience (see the /recipes command). Right click on a reinforced cauldron with a stick to open the experience factory menu. This will allow you to exchange crops for Exp Bottles! this encourages further trading between regions due to the realistic biomes.
