why do so many people seem convinced that people used villagers to avoid mining?

just about the only valid point of villagers being "broken" is that you "dont have* to mine since you can just make an iron farm"(side note here but i just wanna add,is that the fault of the mob who buys iron from you or the structure that uses said mob in an unintended way to give you iron? so bullets are the greatest thing to mankind IF theyre in guns?)

just about on every video platform and everyone who i ask who uses villigers uses them without iron farms, i mean all you do is play the game normally and instead of putting your iron in a chest till the sun freezes over you invest it into villigers to level them up to where theyll start to sell good gear THEN you start to use emerald making methods to buy said gear. but somehow according to these people if you like villigers youre a lazy individual who avoids mining? is minecraft a game about getting tools or is it a game about doing what you want with the world with tools? why talk to your fellow players as if theyre some lesser being?

have we become so hardwired that our first thought on seeing an iron trade is "hey i can make an iron farm for that....this is broken" instead of "hey i can mine for that....which i do anyway"
