Coming from Invision Forum, the User Upgrade system feels to be really lacking. Granted, they have a whole commerce system, and role memberships are a "perk" you can buy in that system, and XenForo has nothing of the like.

In particular, we're missing:

Criteria for who is eligible to purchase a user upgrade.
Prorated upgrades/downgrades between upgrade tiers.
Upgrade tiers/ladders in general.
One-time donations (does not convey perks).
Gifting upgrades.
Income...
