Upgrading from 2.2 to 2.3 and a drop in visitors (bots)

I updated my forum to 2.3 yesterday and immediately noticed a drop in online visitors (many of them definitely bots)...
Is it a coincidence, or does 2.3 have some feature that discourages bots?
