This hint might not be about Sulfur. Here's why...

u/Tiruil has suggested that this Mojang teaser is hinting at the element sulfur. Why else would the number 16 be used in conjunction with an "S"? Here's my alternate interpretation. The board shows a picture of two slime mobs, a magma cube and a slime. Thus, the "S" probably stands for "slime". A giant slime can break into 4 medium cubes when killed. Each medium slime can break into 4 baby slimes. So, a giant slime equates to 16 baby slimes.
