There's Absolutely Nothing Worse in This Game Than Losing All Your Stuff

Been playing in a new world with a modpack with vanilla+ mods (like Terralith, Universal Ores, etc) and just spent like 2 hours mining. I was already almost without torches and about to go home. I got 1 pack of diamonds, 1 pack of brute iron ore, half a pack of brute gold ore, amethyst and a lot of enchanted books from terralith's structures, then, with one iron chestplate and full copper armor (and max health) I decided to fight an enderman just to get an ender pearl for any emergencies if I needed it, and, after the first hit I got surprised by a skeleton that simply materialized in front of me. I got lost. I tried to fight the skeleton to aliviate the pression, but absolutely forgot how strong endermen are if ur not ideally equiped, and got two hits from him. I killed the skeleton, but was at only 2 hearts and holding on my shield, completely dishoriented, also, I was trapped against a wall and was trying to alternate between defending from the enderman and attacking him, however, I lost the rhytm and got brutaly destroyed by the enderman and lost all my stuff. I have no idea how deep into the cave I was and I dont think it is worth to come back and try to retrieve my stuff. The desire to abandon the world or just like leave the game for two months is enormous.
