April fools updates allow the minecraft team to make large changes to the game without players complaining about permanent changes. This probably meant the devs spent more time implementing silly or fun ideas rather than putting all their effort into making everything perfect. We as a community should be more welcoming to changes so the devs can shine. Especially since you can easily switch to previous versions on java and theres nothing stopping them from reversing particularly bad updates if they do happen.
