Rock Salt: Minecraft’s Missing Pink Mineral

Minecraft’s ores form a rainbow of colors; Redstone, Copper, Gold, Emerald, Diamond, Lapis, Amethyst…
But one hue is missing: Pink.

Found near rivers, beaches, and ocean caves, Rock Salt is as common as coal, perfect for new players exploring their first world. When mined, it drops Rock Salt Dust, which can be crafted into a Rock Salt Crystal using a single Rock Salt Dust.

Core Mechanics

Mob Repellent:

  • Place Rock Salt Dust on the ground to form protective rings or pathways.
  • Undead mobs avoid crossing it, great for safe bases or peaceful travel routes.
  • Hostile mobs with rotten flesh, and possibly witches will be unable to cross it.

Enhanced Food:

  • Combine with meats or fish to craft Salted Foods.
  • Same hunger restoration, but longer saturation, ideal for players who travel by sprinting.

Armor Trims

  • Use Rock Salt Crystals at a Smithing Table to create a pink trim.
  • Works as a new color option for players seeking unique, gentle-toned gear aesthetics.

Building & Style:

  • Rock Salt Block - Much like "Block of Diamond", "Block of Gold" Crafted with 9 Rock Salt Crystals.
  • Rock Salt Bricks
  • Salt Lamps - Crafted with 8 Rock Salt Crystals and a single Torch; emit a warm, dim glow, being placed on top of blocks, or hung like a lantern.

Why Rock Salt Fits

Rock Salt isn’t “Redstone but pink.”
It’s a new survival tool, creative material, and decorative statement all in one.

It enhances three major pillars of Minecraft:

  • Exploration: Found in new surface deposits near water.
  • Expression: Adds pink armor trims and glowing light sources.
  • Survival: Offers functional advantages through mob repelling and food preservation.

It completes Minecraft’s mineral rainbow!

Let’s make pink practical!
