Request - The repositioning of featured articles/post

So, I run my forums a little differently. I use the "featured" section as my landing page and have configured it so Google can index it. I feel this approach gives it a nice CMS-style look. However, the issue I'm encountering is with how it handles preview images sometimes cropping images in half or in ways that look unprofessional or sloppy. I feel a repositioning option would work out great.
