My dad and I are playing Minecraft and I’m 14k blocks from spawn. His spawn is not updating

I’m 14,000 blocks away from spawn and when my dad joined the world, he had to make the journey of 14,000 blocks to get to me. But he’s not that great at the game so he keeps on dying at like 7000 blocks. Only problem is that he sleeps But his spawn is not updating so when he dies, he hast to go back 7000 blocks and loses all progress. He says his spawn point has saved when he’s gone to bed. Idk what’s happening
