I felt motivated to post this, so I hope it is appreciated, but I felt it really important to express my gratitude toward Mojang making such an amazing game.
Minecraft isn't a just a game, it is an amazing avenue that can breath life back into our lost society. This used to be a small world. Family generally lived nearby and you could have holidays together. Today, everyone is too busy and family can live 1/2 way across the world. What does this have to do with Minecraft? Everything. I have grandkids that live about 1000 miles away in another state. I haven't talked to them much over the last 10 years, until I discovered Minecraft. I am 50, so my generation was where most videogames began, and I still play. I recently got a realm and found out that the kids also play it, so I added them. I have talked to them more in the past several weeks than I have in the last 10 years. I have caught up on what has happened to them over that time and I get to talk to them on a regular basis now. It is amazing. All the while, we are playing the game. Periodically I go and do my own thing and they theirs, but we sit and chat. Sometimes we say nothing if we are utterly focused on our projects, but then out of the blue, "oh did I tell you about my play!" they might say. Something I might never have heard until another 5 years. The game allows you to be with them in a ways prior generations couldn't when the kids moved away. Minecraft isn't just some game where you fight monsters, it is a sandbox that allows your imagination to flurish, and then SHARE it with others. I implore anyone who misses their kids to try this game. It is such an amazing way to connect again. That is what minecraft is, it brings long distance family back together again.
Thanks for letting me share. Share the game with your folks if you haven't seen them in awhile. Share it with your grand parents, Share it with your kids. You do projects together and then those little bits of positive information come through that you will not get in a 5 min phone call just to tell that family member you love all's good. That is Minecraft. It's not just some silly lego style game, it is a means to bring people back together.
