Large Biomes is the cure for your problems (TLDR at the bottom)

TLDR:

Large biomes with new world generation is way more immersive than normal worlds, and it solves many of the problems many are experiencing with the new caves and mountains, and besides it is also making some niche features of the game useful again.

Actual Post:

I've seen quite a few people complain about the new surface generation, that it's annoying to traverse, every little hole is 50 blocks deep, every mountain and cave is huge but you have no flat space for building anymore, everything is full of water holes and similar problems.

I noticed I have none of these problems, and I believe it is because I play almost exclusively with large biomes enabled. In my opinion, since the mountains, crevices and caves have gotten so big, they are out of scale with the normal terrain generation, but when everything else is big as well, that isn't a problem anymore.

A single plains biome will have enough space to build your entire base, mountains are not on their own anymore but part of mountain ranges, which makes a lot more sense than a random huge pillar of stone in the middle of nowhere. Forests are also a lot more immersive and impressive when they don't just end after 200 blocks, especially the old Taiga and Dark forests.

This also makes some currently kinda useless features very useful, like Horse travel is actually incredibly superior to just walking, as opposed to normal generation where having a horse just means every 50 blocks you have to fight it through a river or up a random wall, and Minecarts (or even Trains for mod enjoyers) are not just a gimmick anymore but a really useful feature.

Exploration also feels way more rewarding when you actually have to travel to get somewhere worth exploring, and not everything is less than a days walk away. You wanna find a desert? In normal you already found 2 on your first day, in large biomes you have to follow biome borders, find out where it gets warmer and actually explore your world.

It makes for an overall more immersive experience, biomes look and feel more realistic and the world is less crowded with all the new structures and features, making it feel like peaceful nature again, without losing the content of the new updates.

Nobody is stopping you from giving it a try, and maybe you'll grow to love it like I did. One tip I wish I had gotten earlier: if you want to find more biomes faster, follow the borders between biomes or find yourself an ocean, that's a lot easier than aimlessly walking around.

TLDR: I've moved it to the top but forgot to change the title
