I've owned Minecraft Java for excess of 9 years or so, in that time I've only needed to visit the main site a few times. The last time was quite a while back. I did so yesterday to get the Vanilla launcher just because for some reason I am now required to use it (for the 5th time) once.
Yes, I get that, fine, I'll do it. But the Minecraft website has changed so much, it looks like it was designed to sell the game more than for the people who already own the game. It seems to me, the super large images and scrolling animations all over the place are just super confusing and get in the way when you need to find information, and are made to "funnel" the unaware into buying a copy.
Sure, once you know exactly where to go, it seems simple enough. But hindsight is always 20/20.
Am I alone in this? Am I just one of those special people who find everything confusing when it is really simple? Who knows, maybe that is the case. I'll have to go continue writing some Perl code while I think about that. But if a seasoned Perl programmer finds something confusing at first, it might mean, at the very least, something.
