How Do I Show a Forum That is Private on the Main Page?

Hello,

I have a private forum but I want to be able to show that forum on the main page.

What also would be ideal is a user (who doesn't have permissions to post in said forum) clicks
on it and then gets a notice that you have to be a member/have permission, etc...

Is this possible?
