Do Y'all enslave villagers or build more houses for them?

I just wanted to have an idea of how many people build inhumane 1x1 trading halls and how many build lavish living spaces for all the new villagers you breed, while the former is more efficient, i find it much more satisfying to help build up a village, just wondering if you guys think the same.
