Au Naturel 5 - Open World Survival Modpack Now Available on Curseforge

Welcome to the natural world, feel free to explore. Released as of tonight on curseforge.

The next iteration of Au Naturel and after almost a year of development since I began. Its been almost 3 months solid development since the last round, and this time I think it's something special :)

This cycle has all been about hacking down into the low level minecraft mods to focus on efficiency, stability, performance, and fidelity. I've put up my own versions of 20-30 key mods to ensure they all work together optimally on forge 1.20.1, including a specific version of spark allowing me to profile on java 25, I've eliminated the mods that won't play nice, fixed an uncountable number of bugs (and probably introduced just as many), reworked the internals, and just generally gone crazy.

I hope we've finally cracked the pregeneration and performance nut. No longer do you need to pregenerate a world in order to play on survival. Giant lag spikes should be a thing of the past. Performance should remain acceptable and smooth in pretty much any and every environment. From dense jungles to wide open plains to underground caves to sea ice.

Each world seed has its own unique determinitic spawn somewhere randomly placed between the two poles, and each world is still completely unique and procedural, but each is split into climate bands running above and below the world equator. Once past the poles in a north or south direction, its arctic hell for the rest of the world gen, but each pole is 8000 blocks out from the equator by default.

I've made my own edit of photon shaders to accompany the pack, though you can run with or without or bring your own.

Chunk generation should be on the order of 1.5x - 3x faster than previously experienced. You don't need to pregen, but we're not taking that away from you either, our own customed version of chunky is included for you.

Everything is targetting java 25 temurin with 16gb ram, but you're free to try with java 17 and 21 too. If you want to try with less RAM, try disabling distant horizons before starting.
