FlameForge
Forge. Reforge. Risk it all.

Custom weapons, armor, shields and amulets with unique powers, weighted outcomes and cinematic forge animations.

28 forge tiers • 113 preset variants • 4 equipment categories
Spigot / Paper / Folia • Minecraft 1.8.8–1.21.x • Java 8+ bytecode
What is FlameForge?

FlameForge turns ordinary Minecraft equipment into a risk-and-reward progression system. Players visit a forge, insert an item and attempt to unlock a stronger, differently specialized variant. Every attempt has visible requirements and chances: the item may gain new powers, fracture and lose its improvements, or become permanently cursed.

The system is built for RPG, survival, SMP and progression-focused servers that want meaningful equipment upgrades without requiring client mods or a resource pack. It includes ready-to-use content, while allowing operators to tune progression, costs, item effects, presentation and station access through YAML files.

A Simple, Visual Forging Experience
  1. Find a forge. Right-click a registered block to open its forge menu.
  2. Insert equipment. Use the single-item input slot in the 54-slot GUI.
  3. Review the odds. See the next tier, requirements, success/break/curse chances and eligible variants before committing.
  4. Confirm the attempt. Watch the forged item rise and orbit during the animation, then receive the outcome.

No tier-button maze. FlameForge identifies the inserted item's current tier and automatically selects the next step in that equipment category's progression. The confirm button updates to show whether the attempt is ready or blocked by missing requirements.

Four Equipment Progressions

The included setup contains seven forgeable tiers per category and 113 preconfigured variants:
  • Weapons — 35 variants. Swords, axes and supported ranged/special weapons. Examples include Bloodletter, Venomous, Stormbound, Thunderlord, Annihilator and Tempest. Gain offensive procs, lifesteal-style healing, dashes, explosive hits, lightning and chain effects.
  • Armor — 28 variants. Helmets, chestplates, leggings, boots and other configured armor types. Build toward speed, regeneration, defensive buffs and damage reduction.
  • Shields — 21 variants. Blocking-focused powers such as healing, knockback and status effects against attackers. Available where the Minecraft version supports shields.
  • Amulets — 29 variants. Configurable accessories using the fallback equipment category, with held/inventory passive effects and sneak-right-click abilities.

Progression is editable: each category has its own tier sequence, and each tier can define its own eligible items, variant pool, probability weights, names, lore, enchantments, attributes and powers. The supplied progression has seven stages per category; custom replacements must respect the seven-stage schema.

Every Forge Attempt Matters
  • SUCCESS — Applies a weighted, eligible variant. The item receives its configured forged identity, appearance and effects.
  • BREAK — Applies the tier's break policy. It can fracture the item, reset its tier, strip previous forge bonuses or destroy it when configured.
  • CURSE — Removes existing FlameForge powers and marks the item as cursed. A cursed item cannot be reforged again.

Each tier controls its own outcome probabilities. For example, the bundled first weapon tier uses 90% success / 5% break / 5% curse, while the seventh weapon tier uses 60% / 23% / 17%. Higher-tier forging therefore carries a real, configurable risk.

Real Powers, Not Just Colored Names

Offensive abilities

  • Bleeding damage over time, poison, burning and wither-style effects.
  • Healing on hit, timed lightning strikes and periodic knockback.
  • Explosive area damage and fire spreading to nearby targets without terrain destruction.
  • True A → B → C chain damage and chain potion effects, with target deduplication and configurable limits.

Defensive and utility abilities
  • Blocking-triggered healing, retaliation effects and knockback.
  • Passive regeneration, resistance, speed and other configured potion buffs.
  • Sneak + right-click dashes and self-healing abilities.
  • Damage-reduction attributes for configured damage causes, with an 80% combined reduction cap.

Powers support configurable chance, cooldown, strength, duration, target limits and activation slots. Supported activation slots include main hand, offhand (on compatible versions), armor slots and inventory. Combat effects have matching particle feedback, with separate switches for held-item and hit particles.

Cinematic Forge Animations

Forging has its own visual sequence: a packet-based display item rises and rotates, surrounded by spiral trails, an aura and an outcome reveal. Effects change with the result and the selected power theme: electric, explosive, poison, bleed, healing, defensive, curse and more.

The animation uses PacketEvents to display a fake item rather than dropping a real item entity into the world. Particle and sound candidates are resolved against the server's available capabilities, with graceful cosmetic fallbacks for older versions.

Configurable Forge Stations

Turn a block into a forge and give different locations different progression rules.
  • Register or remove stations directly in-game by targeting a non-air block.
  • Choose between REGISTERED_ONLY and ANY_BLOCK interaction modes.
  • Assign profiles with tier limits, required permissions, menu/animation profiles and announcement radius.
  • Use the included default, basic, premium, admin and compact station profiles as starting points.
  • Add optional floating station labels through FancyHolograms or DecentHolograms.
  • Display configurable forge-result announcements globally or around the station.

Built for Server Operators
  • Flexible requirements: XP, Vault economy money and required items; combine requirements with configured ALL/ANY logic.
  • Adjustable cooldowns: Per-tier forge cooldowns and independent power cooldowns, with bypass permissions.
  • Editable presentation: Menus, MiniMessage text, tier names, colored lore, effects, animations and announcements.
  • Material controls: Equipment categories, allowed groups, denied materials, material aliases and protection for foreign custom-item data.
  • Safe configuration updates: Validate files without applying changes. A failed validation rejects a reload and retains the previous active configuration.
  • Audit records: Asynchronous transaction/activity logging to local JSONL files, with configurable queue capacity and retention.
  • Item custody handling: Forge sessions track the input item; pending delivery handling covers interrupted or disconnected sessions.
  • Admin testing tools: Generate a specific forged item, inspect tier definitions, preview eligible variants or browse weapon examples without charging forge costs.

Compatibility & Dependencies
  • Minecraft: 1.8.8 through the 1.21.x series is the project's stated compatibility target; newer materials, offhand features and particles work only where the server provides them.
  • Server software: Bukkit / Spigot / Paper / Folia, using platform-aware scheduling and compatibility adapters.
  • Java: The plugin is compiled to Java 8 bytecode. Your server must still run on the Java version required by its own Minecraft/server release.
  • Required: PacketEvents (external Spigot plugin; built against 2.13.0). FlameForge will not enable without it.
  • Optional: Vault + an economy provider for money costs; FancyHolograms or DecentHolograms for forge labels.
  • Client setup: No client-side mod or resource pack is required for the provided functionality.

Compatibility is implemented through runtime adapters. Individual platform/version combinations should be tested on the target server before production deployment; the supplied project documentation does not claim manual verification of every version.

Installation & First Forge
  1. Install the PacketEvents plugin on your server.
  2. Place the FlameForge JAR in the server's plugins/ directory and restart.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change the chances, costs and powers?

Yes. Tiers define success/break/curse probabilities, weighted variants, requirements, cooldowns, item mutations and power parameters. The GUI displays the corresponding configured chances and requirements.

Is Vault mandatory?
No. XP- and item-based requirements work without it. Money requirements need Vault and an active economy provider.

Can I build different forges for different areas or ranks?
Yes. Station profiles can limit the maximum available tier and require player permissions. Different locations can use different profiles.

Will a failed forge always destroy the item?
No. BREAK can fracture/reset or destroy according to the tier configuration. CURSE is a separate, terminal result that blocks further reforging.

Does FlameForge include PlaceholderAPI, MySQL or network-wide synchronization?
No. Message variables are resolved internally, and the included persistence is local-file based. PlaceholderAPI and cross-server database synchronization are not supplied integrations.

Can I browse all my previous reforges in-game?
Not yet. The history command currently exposes current-tier information; operator audit records are stored separately in JSONL format.

Can I customize the menu and language?
Yes. The supplied GUI layout and messages are editable in YAML, with MiniMessage formatting. English defaults are included; additional language packs are not bundled.
