Hey there!! My name is Solar, and within the comming week Quintessence SMP will be opening. We're starting applications now in order to get a community built up before launch!

Quintessence SMP is a modded java minecraft SMP based in the CST timezone(meaning thats what will be used for events) with a focus on three seperate aspects.
The server can be split between, roleplay, factions, and rpg esc features.
When it comes to roleplay we whole heartedly are endorsing it. The server features an in game voice chat mod of which when using you're expected to be in character. Even conflict between factions, called Guilds within the world's lore is expected to be based on character's personal conflict with eachother. This means instead of senseless pvp, for pvp's sakes. Someone must have an in-story reason their character is out to kill yours, before such a thing can happen in-game.
These Guilds are required for a character to function in the end of everything however. This world is a dangerous place, and only Guilds are allowed an area which is safe from theft or grief, making it integral that any character looking for a safe place to lay thier head joins one. Secondly most events are for Guilds to drive conflict between them, and will not be open to players not in one.
The spawn town known as Hillshire, also features many npcs with quests, shops, and services to offer players in this world. Most of these quests will offer you items you couldn't get easily otherwise, or send you to interesting poi's that can hold such treasures and ancient dangers.
Lastly but maybe most importantly is our class, and profession system. Classes, in world called Attunements, are different sets of elemental powers each character is granted at birth. These range from the ability to generate and sling fire, to control over the essence of life itself. These start at tier 1 when you join the server which give passive benefits, and can be raised up to tier 5 adding in more powerful abilities.
Our Profession system on the other hand limits what recipes you and your character will have access to. For example if you choose to be a Weapon-Smith, you'll be able to make a diamond sword, or halberd which other professions cannot, but you'll still need to trade or buy good armour, off an Armour-Smith, and same goes for each other profession you're not. This encourages people actually interacting and creating a player economy amongst eachother. Professions also start at a tier 1 and advance up to 5, however you don't actually have recipes at tier 1 of your profession and are only it in name.
As some final miscellaneous notes I can't fit in elsewhere, most basic recipes, so tools, armor, weapons have had thier costs increased, to further draw out progression. Loot in poi's is individual per person(and restocks over a few days) so you don't have to worry about someone looting everything before you have a chance. Enchanting is not something players do, instead you have to hope to get rare few enchanted pieces of gear from quests, or POI loot.
