How to make sure YouTube views of (your own) embedded videos - count as a views over on YouTube?

I have a feeling that having a video play within a forum thread, in a small player - may not count as a play in the stats over on YouTube....

I am seeking clarity..on this - does anyone know for certain?

What is the best way to embed a video in a thread and have its views count over on YouTube?

A the moment the thread views (containing the embedded video) are high and the YouTube views are very low.
